Guitarist Susmit Sen founder of Indian Ocean in NY for a solo concert.
Susmit Sen, founder and guitarist of India's greatest band, Indian Ocean, is essentially self-taught and has virtually invented a new style of playing guitar. Susmit creates an uncannily Indian sound where purity of scale reigns and strong melodic lines are woven around the drone of open strings. " The purity of scales reign much like the style which forms the basis of Indian classical music. A form, where there is greater freedom of expression through varied note selections yet a disciplinary restriction of never leaving the realm of those notes."

The Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC) proudly presents the internationally acclaimed Bansuri
player Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia in Concert and Subhankar Banerjee on Tabla.
Although he began his musical studies as a vocalist, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia switched to the flute after hearing a performance by Pandit Bholanath a year later. Inspired by what he heard, Chaurasia spent the next eight years studying with Bholanath. He later studied with surbahar player Shrimati Annapurna Devi, the daughter of Ustad Allaudin Khan and the sister of Ali Akbar Khan. With his virtuousic blowing technique, Hariprasad Chaurasia has turned the Bansuri (bamboo) flute into an instrument of beauty.
Subhankar Banerjee was placed under the tutelage of Shri Swapan Shiva of Farukhabad Tabla Gharana and over the years dedicated himself for learning other Gharanas from different maestros. He received awards in his early age from celebrities like Satyajit Ray in the year 1977, Pandit Ravi Shankar in the year 1985 and from President of India in 1987.

The American Academy for Indian
Classical Music (AAICM) presents Classical VOCAL LESSONS with Vidushi SHUBHRA GUHA in NY.
Subhra Guha is regarded as an exponent of the Agra Gharana. Though belonging to the Agra Gharana, which is synonymous with the prowess and masculinity of Aftab-e-Mousiqui Ustad Faiyaz Khan, what makes Guha's rendition style uniquely different is her mature juxtaposition of her feminine charm with masculine grandeur that's inherent in the Gharana. Guha's voice effortlessly soars from one octave to the next mesmerizing her aficionados across the globe.
Today, Guha is acknowledged as one of the finest thumri singers of the Poorab Ang among the younger generation of singers. Her voice is strikingly tuneful, exhibiting exquisite tonal malleability and is remarkably suited for khayal recital. Her style of rendition displays a mellow blending of vidya, impeccable raagdari and a rich gayaki that is both creative and aesthetically appealing. Her collection of rare thumri, dadra, kajri, chaiti, etc in pure Benaras tradition is also matchless. Equally impressive is her exhaustive collections of some rare raagas and compositions. Her command over laya is outstanding.
