WKCR has been featuring Indian Classical Music for over two decades, currently broadcasting two shows every Sunday: Morning Ragas (6 to 8 am) and Raag Aur Tal (7 to 9 pm). In 2006, host David Ellenbogen started producing shows with live in-studio performances of Indian Classical Music and WKCR subsequently created the monthly "Ragas Live" show. "Ragas Live" broadcasts in-studio and live performances recorded by WKCR and has featured a who's who of the great maestros of this sublime music. It is broadcast the first Sunday of the Month from 7-9pm and has been hosted by Ashok Ilankovan, David Ellenbogen and, currently, Sriharsha Aradhya and Lakshmi Gopal.

Ragas Live Festival marks the revival of the Festival of South Asian Music that of previous years in Augusts on WKCR-FM, and expects to become an annual gathering of musicians and fans of this sublime music. The festival will be recorded and featured on both the WKCR online archives on wkcr.org and on podcast site at www.nycradiolive.org.

WKCR is a non-commercial, student-run station affiliated with Columbia University.
